Nutcracker in manhattan

Halle had her second Nutcracker performance in Manhattan at the studio of the Ajkun Ballet. It was my first time taking the train in from New Rochelle without Erik, so I was a little nervous. It worked out that we ran into Halle's friend from class, Lily, her Mom and Aunt. I was so happy! The city can be little intimidating...and when you have to be somewhere by a certain time. Yikes! Anyways, I was happy to have seen them and hoped they didn't mind Halle and I tagging along and sharing a taxi with them.

The city is such a magical place, and even more so during Christmas time. Wow. I was so proud of Halle! What an amazing thing to get to perform in New York City in a production of the Nutcracker. SO cool! I was just so in awe of it all.

After the show, we decided to walk around a little bit and enjoy the sites. It was a beautiful night! A night I don't think either of us will ever forget.

Santa and The Christmas Tree

Halle's letter

Costa's letter

The kids were so excited to get the tree this year! They started asking if we could get it right after we got back from Virginia for Thanksgiving. I love their excitement for the Holidays! I was equally excited to pull out all our decorations and let them decorate their little hearts out. We went to Home Depot this year and found the perfect little tree for our apartment! When we got home Erik made his dads apple cider for us to sip on while we decorated, I love this tradition! It's so yummy! The kids did such a great job doing the tree. It's the perfect size and turned out just beautiful!

Our friend, Breton was with us when we got the tree!

Nutcracker weekend

We were lucky to have Grandma Gloria, Auntie Nisa, Cousin Veronica, KK, Reece and Ally come to New York to see Halle's big debut in the Nutcracker. It was so awesome to see her perform in this ballet! I loved it and was so proud of her! She looked so beautiful:) Jen and Paul also came to watch!

On saturday, we took them into the city so they could see some of the beautiful Christmas decorations. It's an amazing sight to see! New York at Christmas time is pretty magical. We were able to meet up with Sharon, Michael and James for some pizza at Patsy's too! Yum!

Scariest morning ever....and the Rockettes

I had the biggest scare in my almost eight years of being a parent today.
The morning started out our usual morning, get kids ready routine. Erik and the kids left for school and it was just me and my little Crew. Time for breakfast and playtime before nap, like ususal.

It's crazy how fast something can happen and flip your world upside down. You always hear it, but you never know until it happens to you. My little Crew is truly a "Bruiser"....he's always climbing, trying to reach something he's not supposed to, falling constantly because he's just starting to walk now, hitting his face on something. We have to watch him constantly. He is definitely my "busiest" bee yet....he makes me so nervous. Travieso.

So, of course when I went to pick him up from his fall into the TV stand this morning, I expected to maybe see a little blood. Maybe a fat lip. But instead I saw a LOT of blood and a HUGE HOLE in the middle of his tongue!!!! OH MY GOSH....how did this happen??? Was it his teeth that created such a huge gash?????? There was so much blood and he kept crying and crying....it was AWFUL! I panicked. Completely freaked out. I tried to call Erik twice. No answer. I swore I saw his tongue start to swell. OMG! What if it swells and he can't breathe? And I don't get him to the hospital in time?! I started praying. It was the scariest thing ever. I don't have a car right now! What do I do? There's so much blood. Come on Lex, get it together. But I can't! I'm shaking and so scared. By this time he's stopped crying a little bit and his tongue is out. I called 911 and told them to please hurry!!!

It seemed like FOREVER but they finally arrived just as Erik was getting home, thankfully he called me back before he got home so he knew what was going on. They were super calm, of course and told me he was going to be fine. So we drove two blocks to the hospital in the ambulance(my first time in one of those things, hopefully both of our last!), yes two blocks. By the time we got to the hospital the bleeding had pretty much stopped and he wasn't crying anymore.

We waited about 40 minutes for the Doctor, Crew actually had fallen asleep on me! It was a rough morning and the poor little guy hadn't even had his diaper changed or breakfast yet. The Dr. came in, grabbed his face, looked at his tongue and said "Don't do anything to it." "Children's mouths heal very quickly, he's going to be fine." Thank you God! I can't imagine if he had to get stitches in his tongue, how traumatic that would have been. I really thought he would need them, the hole was so big. And that was that.....she sent us home. My little guys angels were working overtime this morning.

We got him home, gave him some breakfast, let him eat a popsicle, gave him some tylenol and put him down for his nap. I was so worried he'd be in so much pain, unable to drink his bottles, eat or sleep. He was fine, he did everything just fine. We are so THANKFUL.

We already were kinda bumming today, because Alex and Les had to cancel their trip to come see us because Brooks had a double ear infection. The Dr. told them they couldn't fly with him. SO bummed:( We had bought Rockettes tickets for the four of us for today, so they told us to go ahead and take the kids. They were SO excited. UGH! Why did this accident have to happen today? How could I leave my baby after such a tramatic experience? What if he's sad and wants me and I'm not here? And in pain? It was such a hard decision, but since he was eating, drinking and sleeping OK, we decided to go ahead and go. I love my babysitter and Crew loves her too, so I knew he was in good hands. I really didn't want to have to disappoint Halle and Costa....and the tickets were non-refundable, non-exchangeable, blah, blah.

My poor baby! Erik took this at the hospital
He had his first popsicle when we got home!
I think he kinda liked it;)

We took the train in to the city, for the first time since living here with the kids. They loved it. It's pretty fun to ride the train then get off in Grand Central Station. Halle lucked out because her class had actually gone on a field trip that morning to see Frosty The Snowman, an Off Broadway show. Two shows in one day. Lucky girl;)

On the train ride into the city

We made it to the show just in time. Radio City Music Hall is AMAZING. There was a gigantic chandelier made out of tiny crystal stars. It was so gorgeous. The show was awesome. I'm so happy we were able to go enjoy it. I was thinking about my Crew boo and hoping he was OK, but I truly did try and relax and enjoy the afternoon with Hal and Co. Afterwards, we got a coffee at Starbucks and then walked around and checked out the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center and some of the beautiful decorations that lit up the city. It's truly a magical place at Christmas time. Wow. Just like I had imagined....but even better.

I'm so thankful to God for turning a day that started out so horrible, into a beautiful, memorable afternoon. I couldn't help but feel how blessed we are to be on such a fun adventure. XOXO
And, thanks to Sheena for taking such good care of Crew for us! You are an angel!

This was Crew tonight when we got home, SO happy you're OK buddy! I love you more than you will ever know!
