Birthday in Manzanillo

It's amazing that something the size of a blueberry can make your whole body feel so yucky......I love this little thing dearly already, but it's been a rough few weeks. The best way to describe it(when I'm trying to tell my husband the reason why I was on the couch all morning)is that you feel like you're on a boat.....and granted they're are a few lucky ones, who don't get seasick but the ones that do know exactly what I'm talking about. It's miserable.....but then I look at my other 2 angels and think..."we're going to have another beautiful baby"......so worth it.

I feel ok this morning....so I write.

This last weekend we went to Manzanillo with some friends to celebrate my babe's birthday. I have been super duper nauseous these last few weeks, even going to the beach sounded like a chore(and I LOVE the beach!).......but I knew getting out of town and a change of scenery would be good for me since I've been spending most of the mornings...on the couch. Our friend Marguerite found a really big house on the beach, with a pool for us to stay at. Our own little resort. It was perfect. Erik and the kids took friday off from school so we could head out early......I packed the kids the night before.....cuz I'm pretty much worthless in the mornings now......it takes everything in me to get the kids breakfast, make lunches and do their hair. We had planned on leaving around 9, but didn't end up actually leaving until around 10:30.....I was moving a little slow. Manzanillo's only a 3 hour drive so it worked out that we would still have most of friday to hang out, just the 4 of us before anybody else got there.

The drive was great, pretty relaxing.......although, Costa was pretty anxious to get to the beach. He must have asked every 20 minutes if we were there yet. I was patient up until about the 5th time! I told him we would be there when we got there and to PLEASE stop asking!(reminding myself of the days when I was a kid and my parents would say the same thing) By this time, we really were almost there and my stomach was turning and twisting like I hadn't eaten in days.....when really I had just had about 10 saltine crackers. So I was hungry, getting nauseous again and annoyed.

We pulled into town around 2ish...... Erik knew he better find us a spot to eat quick or he was going to have one angry pregnant wife. Of course, right when we pulled in there were a gazillion mariscos places.....which actually sounded good that day, thank God because that was pretty much my only choice. I have been all over the board with what sounds good to eat.....in fact nothing really does.....my stomach goes crazy like I'm starving but nothing ever sounds delicious to eat. I just know I need to before the nauseousness gets worse. We found a place and filled our bellies and everybody seemed to be happier. READY for the beach!

We got to the house and you can guess what the first thing the kids wanted to do was? SWIM......of course.....and that's what they did all weekend long. They are both doing so good and it's so nice to know that your kids know how to to swim, such a relief. Oh, and we decided to let daddy open his present early so he could use them...some new flipflops. There must be magic in the sea air that does something for nauseous pregnant ladies.......because from the moment I laid on that lounge chair friday afternoon until sunday when were packing the car to head home, I was good! I really didn't feel sick the whole weekend! A few little spouts here and there, but for the most part......nada. It felt so good to feel good....especially for my hubby's birthday.

The weekend was spent soaking up the sun, games in the pool (crazy boys), playing in the sand, swimming in the ocean and eating......and drinking(except for me of course).......and boy did those mouth watering watermelon margaritas and mango banana daquiris that Alex was making look delicioso.....I was drooling.....my choice of drink for the weekend was fresca, with lots of lime... pretty tasty. Adam and Marguerite were simply wonderful with the meal planning and all the cooking they did. We had shish-kabobs friday night.......Marguerite made crepes saturday morning for Erik's birthday, Adam bbq'd saturday afternoon for lunch and then we ended up going out to dinner on saturday. The kids and I baked the traditional apricot pie on thursday before we left, but he's not much into sharing that so we baked him a butter cake so we could all sing to him.....we even put 31 candles on the cake. So blessed to have such great friends! I think Erik had a wonderful time celebrating turing "31"......Happy birthday babe! We love you SO very much! MUAH!

  1. You guys do so many awesome things and go to so many amazing places!! That house and pool is absolutely gorgeous. I'd kill for just one day in a place like that right now.

Did you hear? We hit 100 and it's supposed to be 110 by Sunday. UGH!!!! I get so unbelievably crabby come summertime.
