Dia de la Independencia

The kids being festive with sombreros and flags they made at school

Dia de la Independencia:
Living in Mexico, we've traded a few holidays......we no longer celebrate labor day, instead we have September 16th....Mexico's Independence day. Of course, it just wouldn't be the same without a fiesta! As most of you know, us Contreras' love to entertain:) And although we miss our family and friends back home during these fiestas, we have met so many wonderful people that love to do the same. We had a great time celebrating! We bbq'd and everybody brought something, which is very nice for the pocket book when you're having a party~especially being in med school! My friend Stacie brought the mexican flag colors~red, white & green to paint the kids faces....they loved it! We also celebrated our friends little boys 1st birthday....Happy Birthday Luca! It's their first year in mexico, so I'm happy they had people to celebrate their little guys special day! Amy, Luca's mom made him a cake and put red, green and white m & m's on top to incorporate the holiday. Another great night full of fun
festivities!
